Life Wide Openby Dr David JeremiahMany of us sense that something vital is missing from our lives. We are easily discouraged and bogged down with busyness, boredom, mediocrity, and routine. Yet, every so often, from a distance, we see in someone else an exotic quality of enthusiasm. "What is their secret?" we ask. " How do I go about grabbing a handful of that kind of 'gusto'?" In this energising book, Dr David Jeremiah opens our eyes to how we can live a life that exudes an attitude of hope and enthusiasm ... a life of passion ... a Life Wide Open. Passion is the "fuel of the heart" that energises us to love God and others. We can't live an effective life without it. It's the key to personal and spiritual transformation. It is the power and evidence of God at work in our lives.

Our ReviewLife Wide Open attempts to offer a spiritual and practical vision of what our livs can be like when we allow passion to affect our souls. Dr David Jeremiah's aim is to open our eyes on how we can live a life that is full of hope and enthusiasm - a life of passion - or as Dr Jeremiah calls it, a Life Wide Open. Passion is the "fuel of the heart" that energises us to love both God and the people we come into contact with on a daily basis. We can not live an effective life for Christ without it. It is a key to personal and spiritual transformation, and is the evidence of God actively working in our lives. In the introduction, David tells us to "Open your heart. Open your mind. Set a course of adventure for your passionate journey - the quest for all the deepest riches of living in the presence of a God who absolutely, unconditionally, passionately, and wide open, adores you." [page xiii]. It is a pity that as sincere and admirable an attempt he has made, Dr Jeremiah has brought in some New Age thinking into the book. My warning, do not read this book with an open mind, but instead be on guard so as not to fall into the trap of the contemplative spirituality it seems to be promoting.
